The implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Kenya has been marred with so much uncertainty that those who can afford have shifted to international schools. This is a serious problem since only 33.2% of the 41.8 million going children which is 13.8 million can afford international schools leaving 28 million children with no choice but to make do with the government CBC system that is unpredictable.
The implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Kenya faces challenges including inadequate teacher training, insufficient resources, and infrastructural deficits, hindering effective delivery and student outcomes.
This was made worse this week when President William Ruto announced that Mathematics could be made optional especially for students taking humanities. But maths so fundamental to everything we do that raises lots of concerns why a head of student who claims to have a PhD can say maths could optional. Having made my career by passing Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) which is a competitive test that enables students compete on the global space, I completely abhor the issue of making maths optional.
The other test one can chose from is Graduate Record examination (GRE). In that, regard, someone tell the president that if one wants to finish a nation, he doesn’t have to use a bomb but just to interfere with its education system. Mathematics is often regarded as the language of the universe, a fundamental tool that shapes how we understand and interact with the world. Its importance extends far beyond the classroom, influencing our daily lives in profound ways. The following are the ten significance of Mathematics, on and off the classroom.

Even President Ruto is still asking for more time not knowing that elections are nearing and that time won’t be there.
